English Teaching Role in a Grammar School
A grammar school in Ipswich is seeking to appoint an English Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within an academically selective environment that places strong emphasis on high achievement, academic rigour, and excellent outcomes in English Language and Literature.
English is a core subject across the school, with students consistently achieving strong results and progressing to competitive sixth form and higher education pathways.
About the Role
You will teach English across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering high-quality lessons in both English Language and English Literature.
Students will study a range of literary texts including Shakespeare, modern prose, poetry, and non-fiction, alongside developing advanced analytical and written communication skills.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations, with a strong focus on academic writing, interpretation, and exam technique.
You will work collaboratively within a high-performing English department to maintain excellent standards of teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities

Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching English at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level English
Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Ability to contribute to enrichment and literacy programmes
