Biology Teaching Role in a High-Performing Academy
A high-performing academy in Brighton is seeking to appoint a Biology Teacher to join its Science department from September. This is a full-time role within a forward-thinking school that values academic excellence, scientific curiosity, and strong student outcomes.
Biology is a popular and successful subject within the school, with strong uptake at GCSE and A-Level. Students are encouraged to develop analytical thinking, practical laboratory skills, and a deep understanding of biological concepts.
About the Role
You will teach Biology across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that develop students’ understanding of biological systems, scientific inquiry, and experimental methods.
The role includes both theoretical and practical teaching, with a strong emphasis on laboratory-based learning and data analysis.
You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Biology examinations, supporting them in developing strong subject knowledge, exam technique, and scientific writing skills.
You will work collaboratively within the Science department to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Biology across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging and structured Biology lessons
Plan and supervise practical laboratory work
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Assess student work and provide detailed feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Maintain safe laboratory practice and procedures
Contribute to curriculum development and STEM enrichment activities

Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Biology at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 effectively
Strong subject knowledge in Biology
Strong classroom management skills
Good communication and organisational skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Biology
Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Ability to contribute to STEM or enrichment activities
