An independent sixth form college in Romford is seeking to appoint an Economics Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a post-16 setting that places strong emphasis on academic achievement, independent learning, and progression to higher education.
Economics is a highly regarded subject within the college, with students studying both microeconomics and macroeconomics in preparation for university-level study and careers in finance, business, and related fields.
About the Role
You will teach Economics at Key Stage 5, delivering lessons that develop students’ understanding of economic theory, market behaviour, fiscal policy, and global economic issues.
Students will build analytical writing, data interpretation, and evaluative skills through structured lessons, case study analysis, and discussion-based learning.
You will prepare students for A-Level Economics examinations, supporting them in developing strong exam technique and independent study habits.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching and assessment across the department.
Key Responsibilities
Teach A-Level Economics to KS5 students
Deliver lessons covering microeconomics and macroeconomics
Prepare students for A-Level Economics examinations
Assess student work and provide detailed feedback
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Support independent learning and academic development
Contribute to departmental planning and curriculum development
Promote engagement and participation in lessons

Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification
Strong subject knowledge in Economics
Experience teaching Economics
Ability to teach A-Level Economics
Strong organisational and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching related subjects such as Business or Politics
Experience preparing students for A-Level examinations
Experience working in a sixth form or post-16 environment
