We are seeking an intellectually rigorous Physics Teacher to join an Ofsted-rated 'Outstanding' secondary academy. The Department & Scientific Culture
You will join a prestigious Science faculty where Physics is a high-attaining and popular subject at both GCSE and A-Level.
The academy features industry-standard laboratories and specialized physics equipment (including advanced sensors and signal generators), supported by a dedicated team of specialist technicians.
As an "Outstanding" setting, we prioritise a "mathematically-led" approach to Physics, ensuring students can confidently apply complex formulae to real-world phenomena.
We maintain active links with Birmingham’s aerospace and automotive industries, providing students with unique insights into the practical application of thermodynamics, electromagnetism, and fluid dynamics.
Core Responsibilities
Exemplary Instruction: Delivering high-challenge Physics lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE Triple and Combined Science), with significant opportunities for A-Level Physics instruction.
Practical Mastery: Leading sophisticated laboratory investigations—from investigating circuit components to determining the gravitational field strength—ensuring students develop precise technical and analytical skills.
Conceptual Clarity: Demystifying abstract and complex theories, including wave-particle duality, nuclear fission and fusion, and the intricacies of Newtonian mechanics.
Mathematical Integration: Training students to master the quantitative requirements of the curriculum, including the manipulation of complex equations and the interpretation of high-level graphical data.
STEM Advocacy: Coordinating school-wide initiatives, such as astronomy clubs or robotics challenges, to foster a culture of intellectual curiosity and professional ambition.
The Successful Candidate We are looking for a subject authority who views Physics as the key to solving the world’s most pressing technological challenges. Requirements include:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong honours degree in Physics, Astrophysics, or a related Engineering discipline.
Proven Track Record: Evidence of delivering exceptional learning outcomes at GCSE and A-Level, with a deep understanding of AQA or OCR assessment objectives.
Instructional Precision: The ability to explain complex physical laws with clarity, making the abstract tangible for students of all abilities.
