The Role
Leading and managing the English department, ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning, and student attainment across KS3, KS4, and KS5.
Designing and overseeing a stimulating curriculum that balances classical literature with contemporary voices, ensuring it remains challenging and inclusive.
Mentoring and developing departmental staff through professional learning, peer observations, and collaborative planning.
Driving the integration of digital resources and modern pedagogical techniques to enhance literacy and critical analysis.

Coordinating departmental resources and managing budgets to ensure a high-quality learning environment for all pupils.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
A strong honors degree in English Literature, English Language, or a related field.
Proven experience as a successful teacher at all Key Stages, with a track record of achieving top grades at GCSE and A-Level.
Previous leadership experience (e.g., Key Stage Lead or Second in Department) or a clear readiness to step into a Head of Department role.
Exceptional organizational skills and a professional, resilient approach to school leadership.
A commitment to fostering student voice and creative expression within the subject.
