A wonderful secondary school in Northampton is seeking a proactive and organised Attendance Officer to join its pastoral and administrative team as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting pupil wellbeing, safeguarding, and whole-school improvement through effective attendance management.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality across the school using the MIS system

• Identifying attendance concerns and implementing early intervention strategies

• Liaising with parents and carers regarding absences, conducting home visits where necessary

• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in line with statutory requirements

• Producing detailed attendance reports and analysis for the Senior Leadership Team

• Supporting safeguarding procedures by tracking "Children Missing Education" (CME)

• Working collaboratively with Heads of Year and external agencies to improve attendance figures

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Previous experience in a school attendance, pastoral, or administrative role

• Strong knowledge of current DfE attendance legislation and safeguarding requirements

• Experience using school MIS systems (such as SIMS, Arbor, or Bromcom)

• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

• The ability to manage sensitive situations and difficult conversations with professionalism and empathy

• A proactive, reliable, and detail-oriented approach to data management
