ECT Psychology Teacher – Secondary School – Leicester

A welcoming and well-organised secondary school in Leicester is seeking an enthusiastic Early Career Teacher (ECT) of Psychology to join its sixth form and wider humanities/social sciences provision. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified teacher to begin their career in a school with clear routines, strong pastoral care and mentoring that helps ECTs grow quickly in confidence and impact.

About the Role

As ECT Psychology Teacher, you will typically teach KS5 Psychology (and may contribute to KS4/PSHE or related curriculum areas depending on the school model). You will be supported to deliver a well-structured curriculum that develops:

  • Secure understanding of core psychological approaches, studies and debates

  • Strong research methods knowledge and application of data/statistics (spec dependent)

  • Confident evaluative writing and well-supported argument

  • Clear exam technique through modelling, deliberate practice and feedback

  • Independent learning habits and study skills suited to sixth form

ECT Support and Development

You will benefit from a strong ECT programme, including:

  • A dedicated mentor and regular coaching

  • Protected time for training, planning and reflection

  • Opportunities to observe experienced colleagues

  • Support with assessment, adaptive teaching and classroom routines

  • Shared resources and collaborative planning to reduce workload
