ECT Maths Teacher – Secondary School – Stockport

A welcoming and well-organised secondary school in Stockport is seeking an enthusiastic Early Career Teacher (ECT) of Maths to join its supportive Mathematics department. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified teacher to begin their career in a school with clear routines, a well-sequenced curriculum and strong mentoring that helps ECTs grow quickly in confidence and impact.

About the Role

As ECT Maths Teacher, you will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging lessons that build pupils’ confidence, fluency and reasoning. You will be supported to deliver a well-sequenced curriculum that develops:

  • Secure mathematical foundations through clear explanation and modelling

  • Fluency and accuracy through purposeful practice and regular retrieval

  • Reasoning skills through structured questioning and guided problem-solving

  • GCSE confidence through deliberate practice, feedback and consistent routines

ECT Support and Development

You will benefit from a strong ECT programme, including:

  • A dedicated subject mentor and regular coaching

  • Protected time for training, planning and reflection

  • Opportunities to observe experienced colleagues

  • Support with behaviour routines, assessment and adaptive teaching

  • Shared resources and collaborative planning to reduce workload

  • Salary: MPS (ECT)
