A highly regarded school in Swindon is seeking to appoint an ambitious and talented Second in English to join its successful English department. This role is to start in September 2026.
Job Overview

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the leadership and development of the English department, helping to deliver engaging and high-quality lessons across KS3 and KS4 (with KS5 teaching available where suitable).
Working closely with the Head of English, you will help drive standards of teaching and learning, support curriculum development, monitor student progress, and contribute to raising attainment across the department.

Second in English – Experience and Qualifications
The successful candidate will ideally have:
A degree in English or a related subject
A recognised teaching qualification with QTS (such as PGCE)
Experience teaching English across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)
A strong understanding of curriculum planning and assessment
The ability to support departmental leadership and drive improvement
Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A passion for literature, language, and student achievement
The legal right to work in the UK
