This role involves teaching across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, helping pupils master everything from foundational arithmetic to complex algebraic reasoning and geometric proofs.
The Department
You will join a large, supportive Mathematics faculty that prioritizes collaborative planning and the sharing of high-quality pedagogical resources.
The department is equipped with interactive whiteboards in every classroom and access to a variety of digital platforms like HegartyMaths and Sparx to support independent learning.
We foster a "mastery" approach to the curriculum, ensuring students have a deep understanding of concepts before moving on to more advanced topics.
Regular extracurricular opportunities include UKMT Maths Challenges and "Maths in Action" workshops designed to show the subject's application in engineering and finance.
Core Responsibilities
Planning and delivering high-impact lessons that cater to a wide range of abilities, from functional skills to higher-tier GCSE.
Breaking down complex mathematical concepts—such as trigonometry, calculus, and statistical analysis—into digestible, logical steps.
Preparing Year 11 students for their GCSE examinations through rigorous data-driven interventions and exam-technique workshops.
Developing students' problem-solving and resilience, encouraging them to tackle unfamiliar questions with a logical and structured approach.
Using a variety of assessment tools to identify gaps in knowledge and providing timely, constructive feedback to ensure rapid progress.
The Successful Candidate We are looking for a specialist who is passionate about making "the language of the universe" accessible to everyone. Requirements include:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field (e.g., Engineering or Physics).
Strong subject knowledge across the entire GCSE specification, with the ability to stretch high-attaining pupils.
Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
A commitment to continuous professional development and a desire to contribute to a thriving department.
