The Science Department
The Science department is housed in a state-of-the-art Science Centre, featuring university-standard laboratories and advanced analytical equipment. We believe that Science should be an active, hands-on experience, and our curriculum is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and real-world applications.
You will join a team of dedicated subject specialists and professional technicians who work closely together to deliver a world-class curriculum. The department enjoys a high profile within the school, with a significant proportion of students choosing to study the Sciences at A-Level and moving on to STEM degrees at Russell Group universities. We foster a culture of professional collaboration, where teachers are encouraged to share best practices and explore innovative pedagogical approaches.

Practical Inquiry: Designing and overseeing sophisticated laboratory experiments. You will work with our technician team to ensure that practical work is safe, effective, and central to the learning experience.
Academic Tutoring: Serving as a personal tutor to a group of pupils, monitoring their academic progress and providing high-level pastoral support within the school's framework.
Curriculum Refinement: Contributing to the ongoing development of schemes of work, ensuring they remain academically stretching and reflect the latest scientific advancements.
Extracurricular Engagement: Contributing to the wider life of the school by leading or assisting with STEM-related societies, robotics clubs, or preparing pupils for National Science Olympiads.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will be a charismatic and highly capable subject specialist who thrives in an academically ambitious environment. You should possess:
Academic and Professional Credentials: A strong honors degree in a core Science discipline and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. We also welcome applications from talented graduates or industry professionals looking to enter the independent sector.
Subject Authority: A deep mastery of your specific scientific field and the ability to communicate complex ideas with clarity, enthusiasm, and precision.
Pedagogical Skill: The ability to plan and deliver innovative lessons that challenge the most able pupils while providing the necessary support to ensure all learners reach their potential.
