GCSE & Vocational Success: Preparing students for the rigours of external assessments, focusing on the three pillars of music education: Performing, Composing, and Appraising (Listening).
Extracurricular Vitality: Leading the school’s musical life outside the classroom—coordinating choirs, orchestras, rock bands, and jazz ensembles, and preparing students for seasonal concerts and local competitions.
Instrumental Coordination: Working closely with peripatetic (visiting) music teachers to ensure a seamless link between individual instrumental lessons and the classroom curriculum.
Pastoral Leadership: Serving as a dedicated Form Tutor, providing a supportive environment and acting as a consistent point of professional contact for students and their families.
Why This School?
Northampton’s Creative Hub: Work in a town that values the arts, with opportunities to collaborate with local music hubs and take advantage of Northampton’s central location for regional touring and workshops.
Well-Resourced Music Suite: Benefit from a school that invests in its arts provision, offering dedicated practice rooms, a recording studio, and a wide array of orchestral and contemporary instruments.
A Culture of Performance: Join a faculty where Music is celebrated as a core part of the school’s identity, with regular opportunities for students to perform in professional-standard theatre spaces.
Professional Growth: Access to specialist CPD in Music Technology integration, Conducting, and pathways toward Head of Music or Director of Performing Arts roles.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications: Must hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and a degree in Music or a related discipline. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are warmly encouraged to apply.
Musical Versatility: A high level of proficiency in at least one instrument (or voice) and a broad knowledge of musical genres, from Baroque to Britpop and beyond.
