We are seeking a dynamic and inspiring Drama Teacher to join a thriving Creative Arts faculty in Southend-on-Sea. Set against the backdrop of Essex’s vibrant coastline, famous for the world's longest pleasure pier and a bustling cultural scene (including the Cliffs Pavilion and Palace Theatre), this school offers a fantastic spotlight for a dedicated practitioner. We are looking for an educator who can champion the power of performance to develop empathy, voice, and critical thinking.
Core Responsibilities
Pedagogical Excellence: Planning and delivering high-energy, practical, and theoretical lessons across KS3, KS4, and KS5, with a focus on GCSE and A-Level Drama & Theatre Studies.
Performance Direction: Leading, directing, and producing high-quality whole-school productions, showcase evenings, and community arts festivals.
Practitioner Theory: Guiding students through the study and practical application of key practitioners, including Stanislavski, Brecht, Artaud, and Frantic Assembly.
Curriculum Innovation: Crafting an inclusive curriculum that explores diverse playwrights, physical theatre, devising, and script analysis.
Exam Mastery: Mentoring examination cohorts through the AQA, Edexcel, or Eduqas specifications, ensuring students excel in both their practical performance exams and written analytical papers.
Technical Integration: Introducing students to lighting, sound design, stage management, and set design to provide a holistic view of the theatre industry.

Candidate Profile
Qualification: QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and a strong honours degree in Drama, Theatre Studies, or a related performing arts discipline.
Subject Knowledge: A deep understanding of both classical and contemporary theatre, strong directing skills, and a solid grasp of exam specifications.
Pedagogy: A proven track record of facilitating strong student progress and the ability to inspire confidence in performers of all skill levels.
Character: A charismatic, energetic, and highly organised educator who can manage the logistics of rehearsals while creating a safe, inclusive space for students to express themselves.
