We are seeking an intellectually curious and engaging History Teacher to join a thriving Humanities department within a diverse and energetic secondary school in Walthamstow. In a corner of London known for its rich social history and grassroots activism, this school provides a unique environment to teach History as a tool for understanding identity, power, and change.
The Role

Key Responsibilities:
Inquiry-Based Learning: Guiding students through the complexities of British, European, and Global history—from the Silk Roads and the Tudors to the Civil Rights Movement and the Cold War.
Source Analysis: Developing students' ability to evaluate primary and secondary evidence, identifying bias, utility, and historical perspective.
Discursive Writing: Helping students construct sophisticated, well-evidenced arguments in preparation for GCSE (AQA/Edexcel) and A-Level assessments.
Inclusive History: Ensuring the curriculum reflects the diverse backgrounds of the Walthamstow community, integrating local history and global narratives.
Why Join This School?
Waltham Forest’s Cultural Hub: Work in a borough with a proud heritage of William Morris and radical politics, offering incredible local context for your lessons.
Collaborative Humanities Team: Join a department that values shared planning, collaborative marking, and a "work-smart" approach to protect your wellbeing.
Modern Learning Resources: Benefit from digital archives, interactive classroom technology, and a school library that is a genuine hub for research.
Professional Trajectory: Access to bespoke CPD, including links with the Historical Association and pathways to Middle Leadership or Lead Practitioner roles.
About You
