About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging lessons to a Year 6 class, supporting pupils as they prepare for their Key Stage 2 SATs and the transition to secondary school. This role requires strong classroom management skills and the ability to maintain high expectations while supporting pupils of varying abilities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Planning and delivering structured and engaging lessons aligned with the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum

• Preparing pupils for Key Stage 2 SATs examinations

• Monitoring pupil progress through regular assessments and providing targeted feedback

• Delivering interventions to support pupils who require additional support

• Creating a focused, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment

• Working closely with teaching assistants to maximise pupil progress

• Communicating effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress

• Supporting transition activities and preparing pupils for secondary school

Experience and Skills

The successful candidate will:

• Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification

• Have experience teaching upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6

• Demonstrate strong knowledge of SATs preparation strategies

• Have excellent classroom management skills

• Be organised, resilient, and committed to maintaining high standards

• Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills

• Be dedicated to supporting pupils’ academic and personal development
