About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging lessons to a Year 6 class, supporting pupils as they prepare for their Key Stage 2 SATs and the transition to secondary school. This role requires strong classroom management skills and the ability to maintain high expectations while supporting pupils of varying abilities.
Key responsibilities include:
Planning and delivering structured and engaging lessons aligned with the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum
Preparing pupils for Key Stage 2 SATs examinations
Monitoring pupil progress through regular assessments and providing targeted feedback
Delivering interventions to support pupils who require additional support
Creating a focused, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
Working closely with teaching assistants to maximise pupil progress
Communicating effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress
Supporting transition activities and preparing pupils for secondary school
Experience and Skills
The successful candidate will:
Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
Have experience teaching upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6
Demonstrate strong knowledge of SATs preparation strategies
Have excellent classroom management skills
Be organised, resilient, and committed to maintaining high standards
Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills
Be dedicated to supporting pupils’ academic and personal development
