About the Role
As a History Teacher, you will deliver well-structured, engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, and potentially Key Stage 5 depending on experience. You will encourage pupils to develop research skills, critical thinking, and the ability to form independent judgments about historical events.
Key responsibilities include:
Planning and delivering high-quality History lessons across KS3 and KS4
Supporting pupils of varying abilities through differentiated teaching strategies
Using assessment effectively to track progress and inform teaching
Encouraging independent research and critical thinking
Contributing to departmental planning and curriculum development
Supporting extracurricular activities such as history clubs, trips, and competitions
Maintaining high standards of behaviour, engagement, and academic achievement
Experience and Skills
The successful candidate will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Have strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for History
Demonstrate excellent classroom management and communication skills
Be committed to fostering pupils’ independent thinking and curiosity
Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop engaging learning experiences
