A welcoming and forward-thinking secondary school in Wokingham is seeking a passionate and dedicated Spanish Teacher to join their successful Modern Foreign Languages department. This is an exciting opportunity to teach in a school that values high standards, creativity, and student-centred learning.
About the Role
The Spanish Teacher will deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 desirable), developing students’ confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing in Spanish while fostering an appreciation of Hispanic culture and global perspectives.
Working closely with the Head of Department and the wider teaching team, you will contribute to curriculum development, enrichment opportunities, and whole-school literacy initiatives, ensuring students achieve their full academic potential.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver high-quality Spanish lessons that engage and challenge students of all abilities
Teach Spanish across KS3–KS4 (KS5 desirable)
Prepare students effectively for GCSE examinations and assessment objectives
Differentiate learning to support SEND, EAL and high-attaining pupils
Use formative and summative assessment to monitor progress and inform teaching
Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement in line with school policy
Contribute to curriculum planning, departmental meetings and moderation processes
Support extracurricular activities such as language clubs, cultural events or international trips
Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress
Uphold safeguarding, equality and school policies at all times
The Ideal Candidate
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience teaching Spanish within a secondary school setting
Strong subject knowledge in the Spanish language and Hispanic culture
Excellent classroom management and behaviour strategies
Ability to motivate, challenge and inspire learners
Skilled in using assessment data to raise attainment
Strong communication and organisational skills
Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Legal right to work in the UK
