School Business Support Officer – Primary Federation – Nottingham
A well-organised and community-focused primary federation in Nottingham is seeking a proactive and highly organised School Business Support Officer to join its central administrative team. The federation comprises two closely linked primary schools sharing leadership and operational structures, both known for strong safeguarding, inclusive practice and consistent academic progress.
This role is pivotal in supporting the Executive Headteacher and School Business Manager to ensure the smooth and compliant running of day-to-day operations.
The Role
As School Business Support Officer, you will provide operational and administrative support across finance, HR coordination and compliance, working closely with senior leaders and external service providers.
Key responsibilities include:
• Supporting procurement processes and maintaining purchase order systems
• Assisting with budget tracking and invoice processing
• Maintaining staff personnel records and safer recruitment documentation
• Coordinating DBS checks and HR compliance processes
• Managing service contracts and supplier liaison
• Supporting health & safety documentation and audit preparation
• Assisting with census returns and statutory reporting
You will work across both primary sites, ensuring consistent systems and accurate documentation.

Both schools within the federation are well-run, calm and structured environments with supportive leadership teams. Administrative systems are established but continuously refined, allowing scope for improvement and efficiency.

Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will:
• Have previous experience in school business, finance or HR administration
• Demonstrate strong organisational and record-keeping skills
• Be confident using finance systems and MIS platforms
• Have an understanding of safeguarding and compliance procedures
• Be proactive, adaptable and detail-oriented
Experience in a multi-site or federation setting would be beneficial but is not essential.
