The Role

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and practical DT lessons, promoting creativity, problem-solving, and technical skill development. Key responsibilities include:

• Planning and delivering high-quality DT lessons aligned with the national curriculum and examination specifications.

• Teaching across a range of DT disciplines such as resistant materials, product design, or graphics (depending on specialism).

• Ensuring safe use of tools, machinery, and equipment in accordance with health and safety regulations.

• Monitoring, assessing, and reporting on student progress and attainment.

• Contributing to curriculum planning and development within the department.

• Supporting enrichment activities, competitions, and cross-curricular STEM initiatives.

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with strong subject knowledge in Design & Technology.

• Practical experience with workshop tools, machinery, and materials.

• Strong classroom management and organisational skills.

• Ability to inspire, motivate, and challenge students of all abilities.

• Commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
