Role Information
The school is seeking a skilled, detail-driven Finance Officer to support the smooth and compliant running of all financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Processing purchase orders, invoices, and payments
Managing expense claims and reconciling financial transactions
Monitoring departmental budgets and reporting variances
Supporting month-end and year-end financial procedures
Preparing financial reports for SLT and governors
Managing petty cash, school trip payments, and parental finance queries
Supporting payroll processes and liaising with external payroll providers
Maintaining accurate financial records in line with audit requirements
Supporting procurement, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring value for money
Ensuring compliance with financial policies, ESFA regulations, and internal controls
Assisting with fund allocation, grants, and income reconciliation
This role requires accuracy, responsibility, and excellent communication skills as you will interact with staff, suppliers, and parents regularly.
Requirements
Previous experience in a finance or accounts-based role
Strong numerical skills and attention to detail
Confident using finance software (SIMS FMS / PS Financials / Sage / Xero)
Ability to organise workload, meet deadlines, and maintain compliance
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Understanding of school finance (desirable but not essential)
AAT qualification or willingness to work towards one (advantageous)
