Role Information
The school is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable, and passionate SENCO to lead the SEND provision and ensure all students receive outstanding support.
Key responsibilities:
Leading and managing the SEND department, including support staff
Overseeing EHCP processes, annual reviews, and parental meetings
Carrying out assessments, observations, and personalised plans
Liaising with teachers to ensure high-quality differentiation and adaptive teaching
Coordinating external agencies, therapists, and specialists
Ensuring compliance with SEND Code of Practice and statutory deadlines
Providing training and guidance on SEND strategies to staff
Monitoring intervention impact, progress tracking, and provision mapping
Overseeing Access Arrangements in collaboration with the Exams Officer
Ensuring high-quality communication with parents and carers
This role requires someone calm, knowledgeable, and capable of leading a busy department effectively.
Requirements
National Award for SEN Coordination (or working towards it)
Strong background in SEND leadership within a school
Excellent knowledge of SEND Code of Practice
Strong communication skills with staff, parents, and external agencies
Ability to analyse data, write reports, and manage EHCP compliance
Commitment to inclusion and high achievement for all learners
