We are seeking an exceptional School Business Manager (SBM) to join a high-performing secondary school in Cheltenham. This is a senior leadership position where you will be the driving force behind the school’s financial stability and operational efficiency. You will work as a close partner to the Headteacher, ensuring that every penny of the budget is optimized to support student outcomes.

The Snapshot

  • Location: Cheltenham (Easy access from Gloucester, Tewkesbury, and the M5)

  • Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 (Dependent on experience)

  • Contract: Permanent, Full-time (Year-round)

  • Start Date: ASAP

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Financial Strategy: Managing the school’s multi-million-pound budget, including long-term financial planning, monitoring cash flow, and ensuring rigorous audit compliance.

  • HR & Operations: Leading the support staff teams (Finance, Admin, Site, and IT) and overseeing payroll, recruitment, and staff contracts.

  • Premises & Safety: Acting as the lead for Health & Safety, overseeing major capital projects, and managing external facilities contracts.

  • Income Generation: Identifying and bidding for external grants and managing school lettings to maximize non-governmental revenue.
