Role Information
The school is seeking a proactive and technically skilled DT Technician to support the smooth running of the department.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing equipment, tools, and materials for DT lessons
Maintaining machinery such as band saws, pillar drills, sanders, 3D printers, and laser cutters
Supporting CAD/CAM processes and digital design platforms
Ensuring all workshops meet safety standards and are clean, organised, and compliant
Managing stock levels, ordering materials, and overseeing budgets
Supporting students with practical tasks during lessons
Assisting with prototypes, modelling, and exam project preparation
Repairing and servicing equipment when necessary
Supporting textiles resources, electronics components, and graphics materials
Helping create displays and departmental showcases
This role is ideal for someone with strong practical ability, a passion for design, and the ability to support creative teaching.
Requirements
Experience in DT workshops, engineering spaces, or a technical role
Knowledge of machinery, tools, CAD/CAM equipment, and safety procedures
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
Good communication and ability to support both staff and students
Health & safety awareness and willingness to undertake training
A practical, hands-on, flexible working style
