Role Information
The school is seeking a skilled and proactive Art Technician to support the Art Department in maintaining resources, preparing materials, and assisting with classroom and studio activities.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing and organising materials, tools, and equipment for lessons
Supporting teachers with demonstrations, resources, and practical tasks
Maintaining and cleaning brushes, tools, equipment, and storage areas
Managing stock levels, ordering supplies, and monitoring budgets
Setting up and clearing studio spaces for lessons and workshops
Assisting with kiln firing, ceramics preparation, and glazing materials
Supporting digital art processes (scanning, photography, printing)
Helping with art displays, exhibitions, and internal showcases
Ensuring all equipment and spaces comply with health & safety standards
Cataloguing and storing student work securely and professionally
Supporting GCSE & A Level students with materials and technical guidance
This is a hands-on, creative, varied role that is ideal for someone passionate about the arts and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
Experience working in an art, creative, or technical environment
Strong practical knowledge of art materials, tools, and equipment
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to support both teachers and students effectively
IT skills for digital art and photography tasks
Understanding of health & safety procedures in art studios
A creative, proactive, and collaborative attitude
