Chemistry is a flagship subject within the school, with consistently strong GCSE and A Level uptake and excellent examination outcomes. Practical investigation is central to the curriculum, and the successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring laboratory provision is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest professional standard.

The Role

• Preparing chemicals, solutions, and apparatus for practical Chemistry lessons across KS3–KS5

• Supporting advanced practical investigations at GCSE and A Level

• Ensuring safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals in line with COSHH regulations

• Maintaining laboratory equipment and coordinating servicing or repairs

• Managing chemical stock control and maintaining accurate inventories

• Assisting teachers with risk assessments and updating safety documentation

• Supporting the preparation and administration of required practical assessments

• Ensuring laboratories remain compliant, organised, and safe at all times

• Liaising with other Science technicians to ensure smooth departmental operations

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Previous laboratory or Chemistry-based experience (school or industry)

• Strong understanding of COSHH and laboratory safety procedures

• High attention to detail and organisational accuracy

• Confidence supporting practical investigations at GCSE and A Level

• The ability to prioritise workload in a busy school environment

• A professional, reliable, and proactive approach
