A picturesque and welcoming school in Torquay is looking for a Attendance Officer to join them as soon as possible. This role is perfect for someone with a background in social work, policing, or school administration who enjoys working directly with the community to achieve positive outcomes.

The Snapshot

  • Location: Torquay, Devon (Easy access from Paignton and Newton Abbot)

  • Salary: £24,000 – £27,500 (dependent on experience)

  • Contract: Permanent, Term-time only

  • Start Date: Immediate

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Frontline Response: Responding to "missing in education" alerts and working quickly to locate students who are not in school without a prior notification.

  • Home-School Liaison: Building strong, trusting relationships with "hard-to-reach" families to improve the school's reputation and engagement levels.

  • In-School Support: Working with the SENCO to ensure students with additional needs have the necessary adjustments to facilitate their attendance.

  • Record Keeping: Maintaining meticulous notes on all parental contact and home visits to ensure a clear audit trail for the Local Authority.
