Geography Teacher – Independent Co-educational School – Birmingham
A well-established independent co-educational school in Birmingham is seeking an engaging and knowledgeable Teacher of Geography to join its thriving Humanities faculty. This is an excellent opportunity to teach Geography in a setting that values academic depth, global awareness and small-group, discussion-led learning.
The Role
You will teach Geography across KS3–KS5, delivering a curriculum that balances physical and human geography with strong geographical skills and contemporary case studies. Lessons are enquiry-based and analytical, encouraging pupils to think critically about global challenges such as climate change, urbanisation and sustainability.
At GCSE and A-Level, classes are small and seminar-style, allowing for extended discussion, personalised feedback and independent research. Geography is a popular subject at senior levels, with strong outcomes and a high proportion of pupils progressing to related degree courses.
There are opportunities to contribute to enrichment such as geography societies, lecture programmes and domestic or overseas fieldwork, all of which are well supported by the school.
The School
This independent school is known for combining high academic standards with excellent pastoral care. Set within attractive grounds, the campus blends traditional buildings with modern teaching spaces, creating a calm and inspiring environment.
Pupils are motivated, articulate and respectful, and behaviour is exemplary. Teachers are trusted as professionals and supported to teach with autonomy and confidence.
The Department
The Humanities department is collaborative, academically ambitious and supportive. Teachers work together on curriculum development while being encouraged to bring their own subject expertise and interests into the classroom. New staff benefit from a thorough induction and a culture of professional dialogue.
