Year 5 Teacher – Brixton
We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and experienced Year 5 Teacher to join a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Brixton, starting ASAP. This is an excellent opportunity for a Key Stage 2 teacher who is passionate about delivering high-quality teaching and supporting pupils as they prepare for the transition into upper KS2.

As a Year 5 Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing engaging lessons across the curriculum. You will help pupils develop confidence, independence, and resilience while ensuring they make strong academic progress. You will also play an important pastoral role, supporting pupils’ social and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the Year 5 curriculum
Assess, track, and report on pupil progress effectively
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEN and EAL
Prepare pupils for the academic and personal demands of Year 6
Promote positive behaviour, independence, and high expectations
Work closely with teaching assistants and KS2 colleagues
Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding progress and wellbeing
Contribute to planning meetings, staff meetings, and whole-school initiatives
Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
Have recent experience teaching in KS2, ideally Year 5
Be confident delivering the full KS2 curriculum
Have strong classroom management and organisational skills
Be enthusiastic, reflective, and pupil-focused
Be a positive team player with excellent communication skills
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
