SEN Teaching Assistant – Manchester
We are seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Manchester, starting ASAP. This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about helping children with special educational needs (SEN) reach their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
The school has a strong inclusive ethos, supporting pupils with a range of needs including autism, ADHD, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges, and learning difficulties. Staff work closely with the SENCO, class teachers, and other support staff to deliver personalised learning and targeted interventions that allow each pupil to thrive.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide 1:1 or small-group support, helping pupils access the curriculum and develop independence, confidence, and social skills. You will also support positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing, contributing to a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 or small-group support for pupils with SEN
Assist pupils with academic tasks and learning activities across the curriculum
Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs and individual support plans
Monitor, record, and report pupil progress to teachers and SENCO
Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
Promote positive behaviour, independence, and confidence
Assist during lessons, transitions, and break times
Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times

Have experience supporting children with SEN in a school or similar setting
