Year 1 Teacher – Bristol
We are seeking a passionate, motivated, and experienced Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Bristol, starting ASAP. This is an exciting opportunity for a Key Stage 1 teacher who enjoys teaching young learners and is committed to supporting their academic, social, and emotional development.

As a Year 1 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the curriculum, helping pupils consolidate their early learning skills while developing key competencies in literacy, numeracy, and wider curriculum subjects. You will also promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing, ensuring every child feels valued and supported.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the Year 1 curriculum
Assess, monitor, and track pupil progress effectively
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEN and EAL
Promote positive behaviour, independence, and resilience
Create a structured, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and KS1 colleagues
Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress
Contribute to planning sessions, staff meetings, and school initiatives
Support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
Have recent experience teaching in KS1, ideally Year 1
Be organised, enthusiastic, and reflective in practice
Have strong classroom management and planning skills
Be a positive team player with excellent communication skills
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
