Year 5 Teacher – Oxford
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and experienced Year 5 Teacher to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Oxford, starting ASAP. This is an exciting opportunity for a Key Stage 2 teacher who is passionate about delivering high-quality lessons, supporting pupils’ academic progress, and helping them develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed for Year 6.
The school has a strong inclusive ethos and a supportive leadership team that prioritises staff development, collaboration, and wellbeing. Teachers are encouraged to be creative and reflective in their teaching, delivering engaging and differentiated lessons that challenge and inspire pupils.
As a Year 5 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess lessons across the curriculum, ensuring pupils consolidate prior learning while building key skills in preparation for upper Key Stage 2. You will foster a structured, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment and support pupils’ social and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the Year 5 curriculum
Assess, monitor, and track pupil progress effectively
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEN and EAL
Promote positive behaviour, independence, and high expectations
Prepare pupils for the academic demands of Year 6
Create a structured, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and KS2 colleagues
Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress
Contribute to staff meetings, planning sessions, and school improvement initiatives
Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
Have recent experience teaching in Key Stage 2, ideally Year 5
Be confident delivering the KS2 curriculum
Have strong classroom management and organisational skills
Be reflective, enthusiastic, and pupil-focused
Be a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
