Year 6 Teacher – Reading
We are seeking a confident, experienced, and motivated Year 6 Teacher to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Reading, starting ASAP. This is an excellent opportunity for an upper Key Stage 2 teacher who is passionate about preparing pupils for SATs, supporting their transition to secondary school, and fostering both academic and personal growth.

As a Year 6 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the curriculum, ensuring pupils are well-prepared for end-of-key-stage assessments and secondary school. You will provide pastoral support, promote positive behaviour, and create a structured, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in line with the Year 6 curriculum
Prepare pupils for SATs using effective teaching strategies
Assess, monitor, and track pupil progress accurately
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEN and EAL
Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and high expectations
Work closely with teaching assistants and KS2 colleagues
Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding progress
Contribute to planning sessions, staff meetings, and school initiatives
Support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
Have recent experience teaching upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6
Be confident in SATs preparation and assessment frameworks
Have strong classroom management and organisational skills
Be reflective, enthusiastic, and pupil-focused
Be a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
