Year 1 Teacher – Reading
We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and motivated Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Reading, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Key Stage 1 teacher who is passionate about supporting young learners during a critical stage of their education and helping them develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning.

As a Year 1 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the curriculum, ensuring that pupils consolidate their early learning skills and build strong foundations for Key Stage 2. You will provide pastoral support, promote positive behaviour, and create a structured, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the Year 1 curriculum
Assess, monitor, and track pupil progress effectively
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEN and EAL
Promote positive behaviour, independence, and resilience
Create a stimulating, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
Work closely with teaching assistants and KS1 colleagues
Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress
Contribute to planning sessions, staff meetings, and school initiatives
Support pupils’ personal, social, and academic development
Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
Have recent experience teaching KS1, ideally Year 1
Be organised, enthusiastic, and reflective in practice
Have strong classroom management and planning skills
Be a positive team player with excellent communication skills
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
