We are seeking a dedicated, confident, and experienced Year 6 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Derby, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about supporting upper Key Stage 2 pupils as they prepare for SATs and transition to secondary education.

As a Year 6 Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing lessons across the curriculum, while supporting pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development. You will play a crucial role in preparing pupils for SATs and ensuring they leave the school ready for the next stage of their education.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the Year 6 curriculum

• Prepare pupils for SATs using engaging and effective teaching strategies

• Assess, track, and monitor pupil progress accurately

• Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEN

• Promote positive behaviour and high expectations

• Create a structured, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment

• Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and other staff

• Communicate effectively with parents and carers

• Contribute to staff meetings, planning sessions, and school initiatives

• Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

• Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)

• Have recent experience teaching upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6

• Be confident in SATs preparation and assessment

• Have strong classroom management and organisational skills

• Be enthusiastic, reflective, and child-centred in approach

• Be a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills

• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
