Year 1 Teacher – Bermondsey
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, creative, and dedicated Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Bermondsey, starting ASAP. This is an excellent opportunity for a Key Stage 1 teacher who is passionate about supporting pupils as they transition from EYFS into structured learning.

As a Year 1 Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons across the KS1 curriculum. You will help pupils develop strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and social skills while fostering independence and confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver high-quality lessons aligned with the Year 1 curriculum
Support pupils transitioning from EYFS to KS1
Assess, track, and monitor pupil progress effectively
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEN
Promote positive behaviour and high expectations
Create a structured, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment
Work closely with teaching assistants and KS1 colleagues
Communicate effectively with parents and carers
Contribute to staff meetings, planning sessions, and school events
Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
Have recent experience teaching in KS1, ideally Year 1
Have a strong understanding of phonics and early reading
Be enthusiastic, organised, and child-focused
Have strong classroom management skills
Be a positive team player with excellent communication skills
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
