School Receptionist – East Ham
We are seeking a friendly, organised, and professional School Receptionist to join a busy and welcoming primary school in East Ham, starting as soon as possible. This is a key role in providing an efficient, welcoming, and supportive front-of-house service to pupils, parents, staff, and visitors.
The school has a strong ethos of inclusion, high expectations, and pupil wellbeing. Reception staff are the first point of contact for everyone entering the school and play a vital role in ensuring smooth communication and day-to-day operations. Senior leadership supports staff with clear guidance and opportunities for professional development.
As a School Receptionist, you will manage the school’s front office, greeting visitors, handling calls and emails, and supporting administrative tasks. You will contribute to a positive school environment and ensure that all communications and administrative duties are carried out efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the first point of contact for parents, carers, staff, and visitors
Answer telephone calls, emails, and other correspondence professionally
Manage the school’s signing-in procedures for visitors, staff, and pupils
Maintain accurate records and databases
Assist with general administrative tasks, including filing, photocopying, and scheduling
Support school events, meetings, and communications
Maintain office supplies and ensure smooth office operations
Ensure confidentiality, data protection, and safeguarding procedures are followed at all times

The successful candidate will:
Have experience in a receptionist or administrative role, ideally in a school setting
Be organised, friendly, and professional
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Be confident using Microsoft Office and school management systems
Be approachable, adaptable, and proactive
Show a strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
Be able to work independently and as part of a team
