SEN Teaching Assistant – Manchester
We are seeking a dedicated, patient, and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Manchester, starting as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about helping pupils with additional needs access learning and achieve their potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
The school has a strong inclusive ethos and works closely with families and colleagues to provide personalised learning experiences for pupils with SEND. The Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCo to provide targeted support to pupils with additional needs. Your responsibilities may include one-to-one or small group support, assisting pupils within lessons, and helping them develop independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours.
You will observe, monitor, and record pupil progress, provide feedback to teachers, and help implement interventions tailored to individual needs. Close collaboration with colleagues, parents, and external professionals is essential to ensure pupils receive consistent, effective support across all areas of school life.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND
Assist in delivering personalised learning plans and EHCP targets
Support pupils academically, socially, and emotionally
Promote independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours
Help pupils engage fully with classroom lessons and activities
Observe, monitor, and record pupil progress accurately
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCo, and support staff
Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals when needed
Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
Support pupils during transitions, break times, and structured activities
Attend staff meetings, training, and CPD sessions
Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times
