Nursery Teacher – Hertford
We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and experienced Nursery Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school with an on-site nursery in Hertford, starting as soon as possible. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about early years education and committed to creating a stimulating, safe, and nurturing learning environment.

The Role
As a Nursery Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess lessons and activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. You will support children’s learning across all areas, including literacy, numeracy, communication, physical development, and personal, social, and emotional development. You will also work closely with teaching assistants and parents to ensure that every child receives personalised support and encouragement.
You will foster curiosity, independence, and confidence in each child, creating a classroom environment that is safe, stimulating, and inclusive. Observing and assessing progress, and tailoring support to individual needs, will be central to your role.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality EYFS lessons and activities
Support children’s social, emotional, and academic development
Promote early communication, language, literacy, and numeracy skills
Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment
Differentiate learning to meet individual needs, including SEND and EAL
Observe, monitor, and record children’s progress accurately
Foster independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and colleagues
Build strong relationships with parents and carers
Maintain learning journals and assessment records
Contribute to staff meetings, CPD sessions, and whole-school initiatives
Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are strictly followed
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent EYFS qualification
Have experience teaching Nursery or Reception
Be nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic
Demonstrate excellent classroom organisation and behaviour management
Be proactive, reflective, and adaptable
Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing
Location
