SEN 1:1 – St Albans
We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and experienced SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in St Albans, starting as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with special educational needs and providing one-to-one guidance that helps children reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

Staff work closely together to provide a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where children feel confident, motivated, and included. Senior leadership is supportive, approachable, and committed to staff development, mentoring, and training.
As an SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated support for a pupil with additional learning needs. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and parents to deliver personalised learning strategies, ensuring that the pupil can access the curriculum and make progress. You will also provide support for social and emotional development, helping pupils build confidence, independence, and resilience.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one support for a pupil with SEND
Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets
Support academic, social, and emotional development
Promote positive behaviour, independence, and self-confidence
Observe, record, and report on pupil progress
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCo, and other support staff
Support the pupil during lessons, transitions, and break times
Contribute to staff meetings, training sessions, and school initiatives
Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times
