SEN Teaching Assistant – Ipswich
We are seeking a dedicated, patient, and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Ipswich, starting as soon as possible. The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with additional learning needs. You will help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs), provide targeted interventions, and assist with classroom management to maintain a positive learning environment. You will also monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers to inform planning and next steps.
You will play a key role in promoting pupils’ independence, resilience, and social skills, helping them to develop confidence and a positive attitude to learning. Effective communication with teachers, parents, and other professionals will be essential to ensure coordinated and consistent support.
Key Responsibilities
Support teaching and learning for pupils with SEND
Implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Provide one-to-one and small-group support
Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom management
Promote independence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours
Observe, record, and report on pupil progress
Collaborate effectively with teachers, colleagues, and external professionals
Support pupils’ social, emotional, and communication development
Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
Uphold safeguarding procedures and promote pupil wellbeing
