Key Responsibilities
As a Midday Meal Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:
Supervision of Pupils
Monitor children in dining areas, classrooms, corridors, and playgrounds
Ensure pupils are behaving safely and appropriately
Identify and assist pupils who need extra support
Supporting Mealtimes
Help younger or vulnerable children during meals
Encourage positive mealtime routines and table manners
Promote independence while providing necessary guidance
Promoting Positive Behaviour
Model politeness, kindness, and respect
Support consistent behaviour management in line with school policies
Calmly intervene in minor conflicts to ensure fairness and safety
Managing Playtime
Supervise outdoor and indoor play
Encourage inclusive games and teamwork
Ensure safe use of playground equipment
Providing Emotional Support
Assist pupils who may feel anxious, shy, or upset
Act as a friendly, approachable, and trusted adult
Health, Safety, and First Aid
Be aware of pupils’ allergies, dietary requirements, and medical needs
Administer basic first aid when necessary (training provided)
Report accidents, incidents, or safeguarding concerns promptly
Teamwork and Collaboration
Work alongside teachers, teaching assistants, and other lunchtime staff
Follow school routines to maintain smooth transitions between lunch, play, and afternoon lessons
Maintaining Structure and Routine
Ensure consistent lunchtime routines and expectations
Create a calm and structured environment where all pupils feel supported
