Key Responsibilities
The Midday Meal Supervisor role is varied, hands-on, and rewarding. Responsibilities include:
Supervision of Dining Areas and Playgrounds
Monitor pupils in the dining hall, classrooms, corridors, and outdoor spaces
Ensure all children are safe, behaving appropriately, and included
Supporting Mealtimes
Assist younger or vulnerable pupils with meals if needed
Encourage good table manners and positive mealtime behaviour
Promoting Positive Behaviour
Be a role model for respect, politeness, and inclusion
Address minor conflicts calmly and fairly
Encouraging Play and Activity
Supervise outdoor games and indoor activities
Promote inclusive play and teamwork
Providing Emotional Support
Support pupils who may feel anxious, upset, or shy
Offer reassurance and guidance in a friendly, approachable manner
Health, Safety, and First Aid
Be aware of pupils’ dietary requirements, allergies, and medical conditions
Administer basic first aid where necessary (training provided)
Report accidents, incidents, or safeguarding concerns to school staff
Collaboration and Teamwork
Work alongside teachers, teaching assistants, and other lunchtime staff
Follow school routines and policies to maintain smooth transitions
