Lead Pupils Through Their Final Year of Primary Education
We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and committed Year 6 Teacher to join a supportive primary school in Maidenhead, starting as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity to teach pupils at a critical stage of their education, supporting them academically, socially, and emotionally as they prepare for the transition to secondary school.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for a Year 6 class, delivering high-quality lessons across the curriculum while maintaining a nurturing and structured learning environment. You will join a collaborative Upper Key Stage 2 team where shared planning, reflective practice, and professional development are encouraged. Leadership provides clear guidance and support to ensure that teachers can thrive and deliver excellent learning experiences.
The Role
As a Year 6 Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons that challenge pupils and prepare them for national assessments. You will use assessment to inform planning, identify gaps in learning, and provide targeted support to ensure all pupils progress.
A key element of the role is supporting pupils’ social and emotional development, helping them build resilience, confidence, and independence. You will also work closely with teaching assistants, colleagues, and senior leaders to ensure consistency and high-quality teaching across the phase.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 6 curriculum
Monitor and track pupil progress, using assessment to inform planning
Differentiate learning to support pupils of varying abilities, including SEND and EAL learners
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and independence
Collaborate with teaching assistants and KS2 colleagues
Communicate effectively with parents and carers
Participate in staff meetings, CPD, and whole-school initiatives
Support pupils’ smooth transition to secondary education
The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have experience teaching Upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6
Be confident in assessment, curriculum delivery, and differentiation
Possess excellent classroom management and organisational skills
Be reflective, adaptable, and proactive
Demonstrate commitment to inclusive practice and safeguarding
Have a positive, professional approach to teamwork
Early Career Teachers with Upper KS2 experience are welcome and will be supported with mentoring.
