Year 1 Teacher – Havering
We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Havering, starting as soon as possible. This role provides an exciting opportunity to teach children at a pivotal stage of their education, supporting their transition from Early Years Foundation Stage and helping them build the skills, confidence, and curiosity they need to succeed.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for a Year 1 class, delivering engaging and creative lessons across the curriculum while meeting the needs of all learners. You will play a key role in fostering independence, resilience, and a love of learning. Role Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and evaluate high-quality lessons in literacy, numeracy, and the wider curriculum
Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching to meet individual needs
Maintain a safe, structured, and stimulating classroom environment
Promote positive behaviour, social skills, and independence
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues, and school leadership
Communicate effectively with parents and carers about pupil progress and achievements
Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school initiatives
Support pupils’ transition from Early Years Foundation Stage to Key Stage 1

Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have experience teaching Year 1 or Key Stage 1
Demonstrate strong subject knowledge in literacy, numeracy, and wider curriculum areas
Be confident in differentiating lessons to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and higher-attaining learners
Possess excellent classroom management and organisational skills
Be creative, reflective, and committed to professional development
Be dedicated to safeguarding, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing
