A thriving primary school in Islington is urgently seeking a skilled Intervention Teaching Assistant to provide targeted support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, improve confidence, and achieve academic and social milestones.
You will deliver tailored 1:1 and small group interventions across literacy, numeracy, and emotional wellbeing programs, ensuring each child can fully engage with the curriculum. Working alongside class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals, you will help implement strategies that meet individual learning and developmental needs.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions, focusing on literacy, numeracy, and emotional regulation
Support pupils with EHCPs or Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
Track progress, maintain accurate records, and report outcomes to class teachers and SENCO
Implement positive behaviour support strategies and foster a safe, nurturing environment
Assist with differentiated classroom activities to ensure full participation
Liaise with parents, external professionals, and therapists to ensure consistent support
Attend team meetings, staff training, and professional development sessions
Person Specification
Experience supporting SEN pupils in 1:1 or small group settings
Strong literacy and numeracy skills
Excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills
Ability to adapt strategies to meet diverse pupil needs
Proactive, patient, and reliable
Relevant qualifications such as Level 3 TA, ELSA, or SEN-specific training
Desirable: experience with intervention programs such as Little Wandle, 1st Class@Number, or Lexia.
