A thriving primary school in Islington is urgently seeking a skilled Intervention Teaching Assistant to provide targeted support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, improve confidence, and achieve academic and social milestones.

You will deliver tailored 1:1 and small group interventions across literacy, numeracy, and emotional wellbeing programs, ensuring each child can fully engage with the curriculum. Key Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions, focusing on literacy, numeracy, and emotional regulation

• Support pupils with EHCPs or Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)

• Track progress, maintain accurate records, and report outcomes to class teachers and SENCO

• Implement positive behaviour support strategies and foster a safe, nurturing environment

• Assist with differentiated classroom activities to ensure full participation

• Liaise with parents, external professionals, and therapists to ensure consistent support

• Attend team meetings, staff training, and professional development sessions

Person Specification

• Experience supporting SEN pupils in 1:1 or small group settings

• Strong literacy and numeracy skills

• Excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills

• Ability to adapt strategies to meet diverse pupil needs

• Proactive, patient, and reliable

• Relevant qualifications such as Level 3 TA, ELSA, or SEN-specific training

Desirable: experience with intervention programs such as Little Wandle, 1st Class@Number, or Lexia.
