About the Role
A vibrant and inclusive primary school in Reading Town Centre is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary Teacher to join its professional teaching team. This is a full-time, permanent position, suitable for experienced teachers and newly qualified teachers (ECTs).
The successful candidate will be responsible for a class in either Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2, planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality lessons that inspire pupils and support their academic, social, and emotional development. Key Responsibilities
As a Primary Teacher in Reading Town Centre, your responsibilities will include:
Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons across the curriculum in line with the National Curriculum
Creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional development of all pupils
Differentiating lessons to meet the needs of pupils of varying abilities, including those with SEN or EAL
Monitoring pupil progress through formative and summative assessment and adapting teaching accordingly
Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, effort, and achievement
Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and personal development alongside their academic progress
Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SEN staff, and senior leadership to provide targeted support
Participating in pupil progress meetings, curriculum planning, and whole-school initiatives
Communicating effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing
Keeping accurate records of pupil performance, assessment, and behaviour
Actively participating in staff meetings, CPD sessions, and other professional development opportunities
Upholding safeguarding, child protection, and school policies at all times
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for a Primary Teacher who:
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Has experience teaching in KS1 or KS2 (ECTs welcome)
Demonstrates excellent classroom management skills and a positive approach to behaviour
Is committed to inclusive education, supporting pupils from diverse backgrounds
Can differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners
Is reflective, proactive, and committed to ongoing professional development
Has strong communication and interpersonal skills with pupils, parents, and colleagues
Works collaboratively as part of a professional teaching team
Is passionate about making a meaningful difference in children’s lives
Experience supporting pupils with SEN, EAL, or additional learning needs is desirable but not essential.
