Role Purpose
The EYFS Teaching Assistant will support Nursery and Reception children aged 3–5, under the guidance of class teachers and the EYFS lead. The role involves assisting with learning, behavioural support, and social development, with a particular focus on SEN and EAL learners.
Key objectives include:
Supporting access to the EYFS curriculum for all children
Providing one-to-one or small group interventions for SEN/EAL pupils
Encouraging independence, social skills, and emotional regulation
Supporting both play-based and structured learning activities
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the delivery of the EYFS curriculum, including early literacy, numeracy, phonics, and creative learning
Provide targeted support for children with SEN, EAL, or social-emotional challenges
Encourage positive behaviour and help children develop emotional regulation skills
Support classroom routines, transitions, snack times, and outdoor activities
Observe, assess, and record children’s progress in line with EYFS standards
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, specialists, and parents to ensure consistent support
Maintain safeguarding, health, and safety standards
Support emotional wellbeing, social development, and engagement in learning
The Ideal Candidate
