Role Purpose
The EYFS Teaching Assistant will support children aged 3–5 across Nursery and Reception, working closely with class teachers and the EYFS lead. The role includes providing learning, behavioural, and social support to all children, with a particular focus on SEN and EAL pupils.
Responsibilities include facilitating play-based learning, assisting with structured activities, and supporting individual and small-group interventions.
Key Responsibilities
Support delivery of EYFS curriculum, combining play-based and structured learning
Provide targeted one-to-one or small group support for children with SEN or EAL needs
Assist with phonics, early literacy, numeracy, and creative learning activities
Encourage positive behaviour, self-regulation, and social interaction
Support classroom routines, transitions, snack times, and outdoor play
Observe, assess, and document pupils’ progress in line with EYFS standards
Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, external specialists, and parents
Maintain safeguarding, health, and safety standards
Support emotional wellbeing and social development for all pupils
The Ideal Candidate

Has experience or interest in EYFS settings
Understands child development and the EYFS framework
Can confidently support SEN and EAL learners
Maintains a calm, empathetic, and consistent approach
