Due to growing demand in Nursery and Reception, the school is now seeking a skilled and compassionate EYFS Teaching Assistant to join their team.
Role Purpose
The EYFS Teaching Assistant will work with children aged 3–5, supporting their development across all areas of learning. You will assist in delivering a balanced curriculum of child-initiated play and teacher-led activities while providing targeted support to individual pupils and small groups.
A large part of this role involves supporting pupils with SEN, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and emotional or behavioural needs. You will help children regulate emotions, develop social skills, and access learning in a calm, inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support EYFS learning through play-based and structured activities
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils requiring additional help
Assist with phonics, early reading, mark-making, and early maths
Support children with SEN and additional learning needs
Promote positive behaviour, independence, and self-regulation
Assist with classroom routines, transitions, and daily activities
Support outdoor learning, physical development, and creative play
Observe, assess, and record children’s progress and achievements
Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals
Support personal care needs as required
Maintain safeguarding, health, and safety standards at all times
The Ideal Candidate
The school is seeking a patient, nurturing, and reliable EYFS Teaching Assistant with a genuine passion for Early Years and SEN support.
You should demonstrate:
Experience working in EYFS or early years settings
Understanding of the EYFS framework and child development
Experience or interest in supporting SEN and inclusive education
Calm, consistent, and empathetic approach
Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
Flexibility and resilience in a busy classroom environment
Training and Development
