Due to continued growth and increased levels of need within EYFS, the school is seeking a skilled and dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team.
Role Purpose
The EYFS Teaching Assistant will support children aged 3–5 within Nursery and Reception, helping them develop early learning skills, social confidence, and emotional regulation. You will work closely with the class teacher and EYFS Lead to deliver engaging activities aligned with the EYFS framework.
You will play a key role in supporting pupils with SEN, speech and language needs, EAL, and social or emotional difficulties, ensuring that all children can access learning and feel secure within the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
Support learning through structured activities and child-initiated play
Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils requiring additional help
Support children with SEN including autism, ADHD, and developmental delays
Assist with phonics, early reading, mark-making, and number activities
Promote positive behaviour, routines, and emotional regulation strategies
Support children during transitions, carpet time, snack time, and outdoor play
Help maintain a calm, safe, and stimulating learning environment
Observe and record children’s progress, contributing to assessments
Work closely with the EYFS team, SENCO, and external professionals
Support children with personal care needs in line with school policy
Uphold safeguarding, health, and safety procedures at all times
The Ideal Candidate

You should demonstrate:
Experience working in EYFS, Nursery, or early years settings
Understanding of child development and the EYFS framework
Experience or strong interest in supporting SEN and EAL pupils
A calm, nurturing, and proactive approach
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Flexibility and resilience in a busy classroom environment
